Lancaster, KY - The Garrard County Fiscal Court has announced its agenda for its upcoming meeting, set to be held on Monday, March 13th at 6:00 P.M. The meeting will take place at the Public Square, Lancaster.

Garrard County GEAR UP hosted a family paint night on Friday evening, welcoming local artist and muralist, Brandon Long to lead the STEAM project. Participants worked on pointillism style painting, which focuses on how we perceive color. The event was a huge success, with students and their family members enjoying a fun-filled evening of art and creativity.

The Garrard County Animal Shelter has issued an urgent plea for help as they are reaching maximum capacity with their current animals. The shelter is in dire need of adopters and rescuers to step forward and take in these loving animals before it's too late.

Bluegrass 911 Communications has announced that both lanes of US Highway 27 North at the Garrard/Lincoln County line have been shut down due to a motor vehicle collision. Emergency responders are currently on the scene, working to address the situation.

As of March 5 at 3:05 pm, Inter-County Energy has restored power to over 700 members since early this morning, but outages still stand at 2201. The energy provider has been working tirelessly to repair the damage caused by the recent storms and get the power back on for their customers.

Inter-County Energy Cooperative provides electric power to more than 26,500 member/owners across twelve counties, some of those in Garrard.

Inter-County Energy announced that crews have made significant progress in their power restoration efforts as of 8:30 pm today. The company reported that this morning there were over 7,000 outages, but the number has been reduced to 3,630 members still without power. The company has assured its members that it will work just as hard for the remaining members as it did for those who received power restoration today.

Garrard County Judge Executive, Chris Elleman, in a Facebook announcement said that he and road department workers out to the early hours of the morning getting roadways passable. Elleman urged residents to report any trees blocking the roadway to dispatch, assuring them that the team would move them as soon as possible.

Local first responders and utility workers have been working tirelessly to answer over 700 calls for service in under 10 hours due to recent weather conditions yesterday. The amount of effort put into this work has been described as a "MASSIVE team effort" by officials at Bluegrass 911.

Bluegrass 911 covers four counties in the area, including Garrard.

The City of Lancaster is getting ready for one of its most beloved annual traditions - the Easter coloring contest! This fun and family-friendly event is perfect for kids of all ages who love to color and get creative.

Logan Hubble Park, a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts in the area, is closed today and will remain so until further notice. The park's trails, which are usually open to walkers and horse riders, are also closed.

Inter-County Energy is reporting that of 9:30 pm, approximately 8,900 members are without power after a severe storm swept through the area. Utility companies are working to restore power, but warn that it may be a multi-day restoration event.

Residents of Garrard County who have experienced damage to their property due to recent severe weather are being encouraged to contact the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to report the damage.

The EMA is asking residents to call either 859-792-7121 or 859-792-4786 to report any damage to their property. Additionally, those who prefer to communicate through social media can message the EMA on Facebook.
