Lancaster City Council to Consider Data Center Resolution, Code Updates at July 6 Meeting
The Lancaster City Council will address several significant policy and infrastructure matters during its regular meeting on Monday, July 6, including continued discussion of a proposed data center resolution and the second reading of updated international building code adoptions.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Lancaster City Hall, 308 West Maple Avenue.
Following the call to order, prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and approval of meeting minutes and the city's financial report, council members will hear a community presentation, receive public comments and review reports from the city's maintenance, police, fire, and parks and recreation departments.
Among the items listed under old business is the second reading of the city's proposed international code adoptions, an important step before the updated codes can be formally enacted. Council members are also expected to consider a data center resolution, an issue that has drawn increased public attention in recent weeks as local governments across central Kentucky evaluate how to address the potential development of large-scale data centers.
The agenda also includes discussion of City Hall matters and the Jaycees Ballpark.
Under new business, council members will consider a utility request from Lancaster Utilities, review maintenance requests, discuss the city's Fiscal Year 2027 Local Roads Program (LARP), and address matters related to the Bethany Trace and Jenn Way area.
Mayor Michael Gaffney's report is expected to include updates on the city's Independence Day fireworks celebration and the annual BBQ Festival.
No executive session is scheduled for the meeting. The council is also expected to vote on payment of the city's monthly bills before adjourning.
The next regular meeting of the Lancaster City Council is scheduled for Aug. 3.
