Lancaster Announces Street Milling and Paving Project, Urges Residents to Remove Vehicles

The City of Lancaster is preparing to begin a street improvement project that will include milling and paving work on several city streets, with construction expected to begin Friday, July 10, weather permitting.

According to an announcement from Lancaster Mayor Michael Gaffney, the Allen Company has been contracted to complete the project. The scheduled work will take place on Owsley Drive, Highland Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Arvin Drive, and Hamilton Avenue.

City officials are asking residents who live on or regularly park along these streets to remove their vehicles while crews are working to allow the project to be completed safely and efficiently. The anticipated work window runs from July 10 through July 20, although the schedule remains dependent on weather conditions.

Officials emphasized that no parking should occur on the affected streets while milling and paving operations are underway. Residents are encouraged to remain aware of construction activity and follow any temporary parking restrictions or traffic guidance in the work zones.

The paving project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Lancaster’s street infrastructure. Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect temporary disruptions and use caution around construction crews and equipment.

The announcement was also shared with the Lancaster City Council, the Lancaster Ky Police Department, and Lancaster City Fire and Rescue to help inform residents of the upcoming roadway improvements.
