Lancaster City Council to Meet Tonight, Sept. 8, With City Hall, Water Meter Bids and City Cameras on Agenda

The Lancaster City Council will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at the council chambers, 308 West Maple Avenue, with city projects, public safety reports and several community initiatives scheduled for discussion.

The meeting will begin with the call to order, welcome, prayer and pledge, followed by consideration of the previous meeting's minutes and the city's financial report.

Council members are also scheduled to receive departmental reports covering maintenance, police, fire, and parks and recreation, giving city officials an opportunity to update the council on municipal operations and ongoing activities.

Several continuing matters appear under old business. The council is expected to revisit the City Hall property situation and conduct a second reading of a bond ordinance. Water meter bids are also listed for consideration, potentially advancing the city's work involving its water infrastructure.

New business includes a Suicide Prevention Proclamation as well as discussion of Fallen Heroes Memorial Way. City cameras are also on the agenda, along with plans for Trick or Treat and Halloween Fest as the community prepares for fall activities.

Mayor Michael Gaffney's report is scheduled to include an announcement concerning an Industrial Development Authority meeting set for Sept. 17.

Residents will have an opportunity to address city leaders during the public comment portion of the meeting. The agenda also indicates that an executive session is planned.

Before adjournment, the council is scheduled to consider a motion to pay monthly signed bills and a motion to dismiss the meeting.

Lancaster's elected council includes Zach Howard, Joe Naylor, Michelle Ballew, Micah Wade, Brandon McGlone and Marshall Norton. Teresa Cheek serves as city clerk, and Jonathan Baker is the city attorney.

The meeting is open to residents interested in following city government and learning more about municipal projects, public services and upcoming community activities. According to the agenda, the council's following regular meeting, and the last before the upcoming election, is scheduled for Oct. 5, 2026.
