Lancaster City Council to Meet Monday With City Projects, Grants and Holiday Plans on Agenda

The Lancaster City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 5, with city projects, community grants, appointments and plans for the upcoming Christmas season among the items scheduled for discussion.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Lancaster City Hall, 308 West Maple Avenue.

Following the call to order, welcome, prayer and Pledge of Allegiance, council members are scheduled to consider approval of previous meeting minutes and the city’s financial report. The agenda also includes a citizen presentation and a public comment period, with former Mayor Don Rinthen listed for public comment.

City department reports will follow, including updates from maintenance, police, fire, and parks and recreation.

Several continuing matters are listed under old business. The council is expected to revisit issues involving City Hall and the Pine Hill property, as well as receive an update concerning the city’s water meter project and its Kentucky Infrastructure Authority intent. Updates on Jaycee’s Project and the city’s task force are also scheduled.

New business includes consideration of a city building inspector and nominations to the Park Board. Council members are also scheduled to discuss community grants and voting procedures.

Plans for Lancaster’s Hometown Christmas and parade are on the agenda as well. The event is listed for Saturday, Nov. 28, from 2 to 8 p.m.

Mayor Michael Gaffney is scheduled to provide updates concerning the Local Assistance Road Program and the city audit as part of the mayor’s report.

The agenda also provides for an executive session, followed by consideration of a motion to pay monthly signed bills and a motion to dismiss the meeting.
