Garrard County Board of Education to Consider Annual Approvals and District Updates at July 16 Meeting
The Garrard County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 16, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The meeting agenda includes routine district business, financial reports, annual policy approvals, and updates from district leadership as preparations continue for the 2026–2027 school year.
The meeting will begin with a call to order, followed by a moment of silence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and adoption of the agenda.
Board members will then move into the communications portion of the meeting, which includes recognitions, review of School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) council minutes from each school in the district, an opportunity for audience comments, remarks from board members, and a superintendent's report.
One of the superintendent's scheduled updates will focus on the district's bonding capacity, providing board members with information regarding the school system's current financial borrowing potential and future capital planning.
During the reports portion of the meeting, the board will review the June MUNIS financial report, receive the treasurer's report, and consider payment of bills as presented.
Several routine items are included on the consent agenda. These include approval of the minutes from the June 18 regular board meeting, the June treasurer's report, personnel changes made since the previous meeting, field trips previously approved by principals, the district's annual information technology security update, the superintendent's professional growth plan, and a resolution adopting five superintendent effectiveness standards.
The action agenda contains two items requiring separate board approval. Members will consider approving the list of emergency substitute teachers for the 2026–2027 school year, helping ensure classroom coverage when certified staff are unavailable. The board will also vote on the district's updated Special Education Procedures for the upcoming school year, including revisions reflecting current Kentucky Administrative Regulations.
The meeting is expected to conclude following completion of the action items and adjournment.
The July meeting serves as part of the board's regular governance process as district leaders finalize operational, financial, and instructional preparations ahead of the start of the new academic year.
