Garrard County Officials Urge Patience as Utility Crews Expand Local Infrastructure
Garrard County Judge Executive Chris Elleman urged residents to remain patient as multiple utility companies continue infrastructure upgrades across the county.
During the Monday, April 27, Garrard County Fiscal Court meeting, Elleman said Windstream, Charter Spectrum and Atmos are among the companies installing new fiber lines, while work is also underway on a new gas line.
Elleman acknowledged that residents have raised concerns through calls and social media about crews working near roads and private property. He said the work may cause temporary inconvenience, including equipment or trailers briefly blocking roadways, but emphasized that the projects are intended to improve access to services and support future growth.
“These companies are upgrading our infrastructure in this county,” Elleman said. “It will help us grow, help us do better, recruit more companies to come here, more homeowners.”
Elleman said the new gas line will include taps that individual households can connect to, calling that a significant benefit for Garrard County. He also noted that infrastructure is often a key factor when businesses consider locating in a community.
He asked magistrates to share that message with residents in their districts and to help explain that the work is part of a broader effort to prepare the county for economic and residential development.
