Traffic Advisory: Highway 52 Closed for Garrard County Tobacco Festival

Update: The road is reopened for use as of Sunday 9/8/24


Garrard County officials have announced a closure of Highway 52 for this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6 & 7, at the Public Square due to the Tobacco Festival taking place this weekend. The closure is expected to impact traffic flow in the area, but Highway 27 remains open for use.

Drivers and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution while traveling in the vicinity, as traffic may be heavier than usual, and detours will be in effect.

Detour Routes for Highway 52:

  1. For Eastbound Hwy 52 (Richmond Rd) to Northbound Hwy 27:

    • Turn right onto N Campbell St (near Lancaster Baptist Church).

    • At the stop sign, turn left onto E Maple St.

    • At the traffic light, turn right onto Hwy 27.

  2. For Eastbound Hwy 52 (Richmond Rd) to Southbound Hwy 27:

    • Turn left onto S Campbell St (near Lancaster Baptist Church).

    • At the second stop sign, turn right onto Crab Orchard St (near Five Star gas station).

    • At the traffic light, turn left onto Hwy 27.

  3. For Westbound Hwy 52 (Danville Rd) to Northbound Hwy 27:

    • Turn left at the traffic light onto N Paulding St.

    • Turn right at the stop sign onto W Maple Ave.

    • At the stop light, turn left onto Hwy 27.

  4. For Westbound Hwy 52 (Danville Rd) to Southbound Hwy 27:

    • Turn right at the traffic light onto S Paulding St.

    • Turn left at the stop sign onto W Buford St.

    • At the next stop sign (across from Garrard Hardware), turn left onto Hwy 27.
