Lady Lions Fall to South Laurel Lady Cardinals in Intense Soccer Showdown

On Monday night, September 25, the Garrard Lady Lions (9-8-2) faced off against the South Laurel Lady Cardinals (10-4) at Leavell Field. Despite a spirited effort, the Lady Lions were handed a 6-1 defeat.

South Laurel set the tone early, netting two goals within the first five minutes of play. This early burst seemed to galvanize the Lady Lions' defense, which managed to prevent further goals for the remainder of the first half.

However, the Lady Cardinals came out strong in the second frame and scored an additional four goals, eventually sealing a 6-1 victory.

Garrard’s sole goal of the match came courtesy of freshman Paisley Poynter, who managed to capitalize on a rebound after a foul kick from freshman Ava Warren bounced off the Cardinal goalkeeper. The assist was credited to Warren for her pivotal role in the play.

Lady Lions' junior goalkeeper Erica Heibenthal had a busy evening between the posts, making an impressive 14 saves despite the lopsided scoreline.
