BLUEGRASS GREENSOURCE TO HOST 3rd ANNUAL SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT
LEXINGTON, KY – Bluegrass Greensource is proud to announce the 3rd annual Sustainability Summit, taking place on March 7th and 8th at the University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center. This two-day event will focus on the intersection of Climate Resiliency and Environmental Justice in Central Kentucky.
The Summit will kick off with a special Pre-Conference Workshop on March 7th from 1-4pm, hosted by Civity. The workshop, “Cultivating Connection Across Differences,” will provide attendees with the skills needed to effectively communicate with those who may have different perspectives or backgrounds.
The full-day conference on March 8th from 8am to 5pm will feature a variety of speakers and answer important questions such as "Who is most affected by climate change in Kentucky?" and "What needs should we consider when forming a sustainable, equitable, and healthy Bluegrass?" Community leaders, elected officials, and those interested in sustainability and equity are all encouraged to attend.
The Sustainability Summit is a unique opportunity to bring regional ideas, examples, and solutions to topics that are very timely for the Bluegrass. “It is important to consider how increased severe rain events and more extreme weather affect our most vulnerable communities,” said Amy Sohner, Executive Director, “and this summit will provide an opportunity to start conversations so that we can make real strides as we adapt to our new normal.”
Registration for the Sustainability Summit is now open, with Early Bird Pricing through February 7th. General tickets include admission to both the Civity Pre-Conference Workshop and the full conference day – with networking opportunities, refreshments, parking and locally focused lunch included. Discounted pricing is available for students, educators, elected officials, and Bluegrass Greensource Resource Society members. There are also single day ticket options available.
