Guthrie Statement On The Senate-Amended $1.9 Trillion Covid-19 Bill

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 10, 2021) - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting against the final version of the partisan $1.9 trillion COVID-19 bill.

“I have and will continue to support resources for COVID-19 vaccines and other pandemic response efforts, but with less than 10% of this $1.9 trillion so-called COVID-19 bill going towards fighting COVID-19, I cannot support such a bill ” said Guthrie. “This partisan bill will also hurt seniors in Kentucky because it will cut Medicare funding. Democrats abandoned the bipartisan collaboration we had last Congress, which delivered five bipartisan COVID-19 relief bills to the American people, in order to pursue their wish-list items and progressive agenda. Unfortunately, this bill did not significantly improve after the Senate amended it, and I hope any future legislation to help Kentucky and the rest of the country defeat COVID-19 includes more bipartisan input.”
