Opening Act Performing Arts to Stage “Dare to Dream JR” in Danville Featuring Garrard County Students

Opening Act Performing Arts will present its upcoming production of “Dare to Dream JR” from February 26 through March 1 at the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center in Danville. The musical features students ages 8 to 14 from across central Kentucky, including participants from Garrard County.

Performances are scheduled for Wednesday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m.; Thursday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m.

“Dare to Dream JR” celebrates 100 years of Disney storytelling and follows a group of new trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the trainees navigate their new environment, they are challenged to explore the power of dreams — both their own and those of others. Through teamwork and creativity, the characters journey across a century of Disney-inspired moments, highlighting the themes of imagination, perseverance, and unity.

The production features musical numbers inspired by well-known Disney films, including Encanto, Frozen, and The Princess and the Frog, among others. Organizers describe the show as a family-friendly experience designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.

Opening Act Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering, encouraging, and educating youth through the performing arts. The organization provides performance opportunities and arts education experiences for young performers throughout central Kentucky.

Following the Danville performances, Opening Act Performing Arts will travel to The National Youth Theatre Experience, scheduled for March 6–8, where students will continue to expand their theatrical training and performance experience.
