Garrard County Officials Urge Caution Amid Slick Road Conditions

Residents are being urged to exercise caution on local roadways as freezing conditions have created hazardous driving situations. Judge Executive Chris “Roo” Elleman announced that road crews are actively scraping county roads in an effort to improve safety, but slick surfaces remain a concern.

“We are out scraping county roadways,” Elleman stated, emphasizing the importance of careful driving. “Please use caution while driving, the roads are slick.”

The announcement follows a period of freezing temperatures and precipitation that have created icy conditions across the region. The county’s road maintenance teams are working to mitigate risks by clearing and treating surfaces, but Elleman’s warning suggests that the effort is ongoing, and conditions remain challenging in some areas.

Drivers are advised to reduce their speed, increase following distances, and remain vigilant, especially on rural or less-traveled routes that may take longer to treat. Residents are also encouraged to stay informed about updates on road conditions and weather forecasts.
