As part of the Blue Grass Community Action Partnership, the Garrard Senior Center operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to help senior citizens maintain their independence and improve their overall well-being. The center offers a wide range of services, including transportation, congregate and home-delivered meals, health services, recreation, education, and opportunities for social interaction.
The Open House will feature several engaging activities for attendees. These include:
• 10:00 a.m. Fall Prevention Class: Led by Center Well Home Health, this class aims to educate seniors on how to avoid falls and maintain safety at home.
• 11:30 a.m. Emergency Preparedness Presentation: Conducted by the Garrard County Emergency Management team, this session will provide important information on how to stay prepared for emergencies.
• Free Cheeseburger Lunch: Attendees will be treated to a complimentary cheeseburger lunch, courtesy of the senior center, while supplies last.
• Tours and Prizes: Guests will have the opportunity to tour the facility, including the newly opened exercise room, and meet the center's friendly staff. Additionally, door prizes will be given out throughout the event.
Participants will also be able to pick up a monthly activity calendar, helping them stay informed about upcoming events and social gatherings hosted by the senior center. Organizers encourage the community to attend, emphasizing that all services and activities showcased during the Open House are free of charge. Donations, however, are welcomed and appreciated.
