Juvenile Charged Following Threatening Social Media Post in Lancaster

On the evening of Wednesday, September 11, the Garrard County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) was notified of a threatening social media post that specifically targeted Garrard Middle School.

The post, which quickly gained attention, prompted an immediate investigation by local law enforcement.

After a thorough investigation, the GCSO identified the individual responsible for creating and distributing the threatening message. As a result of the investigation, a juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threatening in the first degree, a felony offense.

According to authorities, the juvenile acted alone in both the creation and dissemination of the post, which was made outside of school hours.

Throughout the investigation, GCSO collaborated closely with Garrard County Schools Administration to ensure the safety of all students and staff members. Authorities confirmed that no immediate danger was present at the school, and steps were taken to mitigate any potential risks.

In a public statement, the GCSO emphasized their commitment to investigating all reported threats and ensuring the safety of the community. They urged parents to discuss with their children the serious consequences of creating or sharing threatening messages online.

The sheriff’s office encouraged anyone who encounters similar content to report it immediately to an authority figure, rather than disseminating it further.

The case was investigated by GCSO Deputy Johnathan Sizemore and Sergeant Josh Gibson.

The GCSO continues to encourage the public to come forward with any additional information regarding this case or other related incidents. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the GCSO at 859-792-3023.
