Garrard County Issues Open Burn Ban Amid Extreme Heat and Dry Conditions

Garrard County officials have issued an immediate ban on open burning due to the ongoing extreme heat and dry weather conditions. This precautionary measure aims to mitigate the risk of wildfires and ensure the safety of residents and property in the area. The burn ban is effective from June 22, 2024, and will remain in place until further notice.

The decision comes in response to persistent high temperatures and lack of significant rainfall, creating an environment conducive to fires. Open burning, which includes activities such as campfires, bonfires, and the burning of debris, is strictly prohibited under the ban. Residents are urged to comply with this directive to prevent potential fire hazards.

For any questions or concerns regarding the burn ban, residents are encouraged to contact their local fire chief. Additionally, the Bluegrass 911 non-emergency number, 859-792-3023, is available for inquiries.
