Garrard County Emergency Management Agency Requests Urgent Donations for Hurricane Helene Victims

In response to the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene, the Garrard County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in collaboration with Bluegrass 911 Communications and the Garrard County Fiscal Court, has launched a donation drive to assist those affected by the disaster in Tennessee and North Carolina. The drive will run until Thursday, with all donations being collected and transported to the areas most in need.

The hurricane has displaced thousands of citizens, leaving many without basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. To help alleviate this crisis, the Garrard County EMA is calling upon the community for contributions of essential items, which will be distributed to those affected by the storm.

The requested items include:

Clothing: New items for adults and children of all genders (jackets and coats included).

Toiletries: General toiletry items and feminine hygiene products.

Water: Bottled water to meet immediate hydration needs.

Non-perishable food: Long-lasting food items suitable for transport.

Baby supplies: Formula, diapers, and other essentials for infants.

Utensils and paper products: Plastic cutlery, paper towels, and other basic supplies.

Children’s comfort items: Stuffed animals for small children coping with the disaster.

Blankets and tarps: To help with warmth and temporary shelter.

Pet supplies: Dog and cat food for families with pets.

Cleaning supplies: Items to help clean and restore homes.

Donations will be accepted at the Garrard County Emergency Operations Center (Bluegrass 911), located at 278 Precision Ct., Lancaster, KY 40444. The center will be open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM through Thursday, October 10, 2024.

For more information or inquiries, residents are encouraged to contact Deputy Director Dustin Price at 606-669-0657, or message the EMA directly through their official Facebook page.
