Increased Traffic Safety Checkpoints in Garrard County During Holiday Weekend

Local law enforcement agencies, spearheaded by the Garrard County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), are stepping up their efforts to ensure road safety during the upcoming holiday weekend. Authorities have announced a series of traffic safety checkpoints across the county aimed at deterring impaired driving and ensuring compliance with other safety measures.

Effective immediately, these areas have been approved for checkpoints that focus on identifying impaired drivers, ensuring that vehicle occupants are properly restrained, and observing for other safety violations such as speeding or distracted driving:

  2. KY 1295 at the Madison/Garrard line

  3. US 27 Lincoln/Garrard line

  4. KY 152 & 753

  5. Old Danville Rd & Cathole Bend

  6. Papermill & Forks Church Rd

  7. Rogers Rd & Pollys Bend

  8. Mt Hebron Rd & Burdette Knob Rd

  9. Sugar Creek & Jack Turner Branch

  10. Harmons Lick & Drakes Creek

  11. Harmons Lick & Hamilton Valley

  12. Narrow Gap & Hamilton Valley

  13. KY 152 at Buena Vista Church

  14. US 27 and KY 39 at Deer Run

  15. South Campbell Street and Turner Ave

  16. KY 52 and Eastland Acres

  17. KY 52 and 1295

Residents and visitors planning to be on the road during the holiday weekend are advised to exercise extra caution.

"If your plans include drinking, don't drive," said a spokesperson from the GCSO.

Agencies will be actively patrolling and have allocated additional resources to monitor traffic compliance.
