Increased Traffic Safety Checkpoints in Garrard County During Holiday Weekend
Local law enforcement agencies, spearheaded by the Garrard County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), are stepping up their efforts to ensure road safety during the upcoming holiday weekend. Authorities have announced a series of traffic safety checkpoints across the county aimed at deterring impaired driving and ensuring compliance with other safety measures.
Effective immediately, these areas have been approved for checkpoints that focus on identifying impaired drivers, ensuring that vehicle occupants are properly restrained, and observing for other safety violations such as speeding or distracted driving:

KY 1295 at the Madison/Garrard line
US 27 Lincoln/Garrard line
KY 152 & 753
Old Danville Rd & Cathole Bend
Papermill & Forks Church Rd
Rogers Rd & Pollys Bend

Residents and visitors planning to be on the road during the holiday weekend are advised to exercise extra caution.
"If your plans include drinking, don't drive," said a spokesperson from the GCSO.
Agencies will be actively patrolling and have allocated additional resources to monitor traffic compliance.
