Nine students from Garrard County have been chosen to take part in the Youth Ambassador Leadership Conference, hosted by Congressman Andy Barr of Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District. The students selected are Amanda Morrow, Wyatt Fielder, Abigail Bailey, Alyssa Atkins, Abigail Travis, Trenton Ison, Natalie Clark, Emma Graham, and Sadie Shumaker.

The Youth Ambassador Leadership Conference is a non-partisan, educational initiative aimed at high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors attending schools within Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District, which spans 16 diverse counties. Congressman Barr created the conference with the goal of establishing robust connections between schools and students across the district.

Set to take place at the University of Kentucky's Gatton School of Business in Lexington on October 28, 2023, the program will run from approximately 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM. It features breakout sessions led by high-profile leaders from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The selected youth ambassadors will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue on various important topics directly with these leaders.

According to the application details released by Congressman Barr's District Office, each student applicant was required to submit basic contact information, a copy of their resume, and a 250-word statement explaining why they wished to participate in the program. Applications were due by October 13, 2023, and acceptance notifications were sent out by email on October 18, 2023.

Congressman Barr emphasized the importance of the Youth Ambassador Program as a "truly valuable experience" for young people in the Sixth District. He encouraged schools, teachers, and parents to disseminate information about the program and its benefits.

For any additional inquiries about the program or the application process, interested parties can contact McKinzii Todd at Congressman Barr's District Office at (859) 219-1366 or via email at barrcasework@mail.house.gov.

By participating in the conference, the youth ambassadors from Garrard County are expected to return to their schools and communities to share their newly acquired knowledge and experiences with classmates and fellow Kentuckians, fulfilling Congressman Barr's vision of fostering strong alliances throughout the district.
