(Lancaster, KY - April 13, 2021) — Free Dump Days, coming up this Friday and Saturday, allows the community to dispose of their unwanted items properly by bringing the "stuff" that's left over after yard sales to be disposed of at no cost at the local convenience center off of Highway 52 on Hanging Fork Road.

You must have a valid Garrard County I.D. in order to participate.

Free Dump Days takes place in the spring each year and this year will occur on April 16th and 17th from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. each day.

The purpose is to offer an opportunity for free dumping for the citizens of Garrard County.

This is a service offered free by Solid Waste Management and the county in hopes that citizens will use this opportunity to dispose of unwanted items properly and not dump illegally.

Items that can be disposed of include clothing, furniture, appliances, flower pots and general household spring-cleaning junk.

They will not be accepting computers, television sets, hazardous waste, propane tanks, driveway sealers, brush or limbs, burn barrels, liquid waste, medical waste, batteries or chemicals.

Additionally, construction debris will cost $55.10 per ton, household garbage will cost $1 per bag and tires start at $6 each. There will be a free hazardous waste day in the fall and a tire collection in the near future as well that will be an opportunity for county residents to dispose of some of those items for free as well.

The solid waste committee also asks those bringing items to be disposed of during Free Dump Days to tie down their haul and to be prepared to unload their own vehicle.
