Gov. Beshear Launches ‘Healthy at Work’ for Safe Reopening of Economy

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 21, 2020) – Gov. Andy Beshear on Tuesday announced the launch of “Healthy at Work,” a new initiative to help Kentucky businesses reopen safely as we fight the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

As of 5 p.m. April 21, Gov. Beshear said there were at least 3,192 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, 177 of which were newly confirmed. Unfortunately, Gov. Beshear also reported 17 new deaths Tuesday, raising the state’s toll to 171 deaths related to the virus.

Lexington Physician, COVID-19 Survivor, Discharged From Baptist Health Lexington

(Lexington, Ky.) April 21, 2020 — Dr. Jeffrey Foxx, a longtime Lexington physician who contracted COVID-19 in March, was discharged from Baptist Health Lexington today. His hospitalization coincided with a race to find a treatment for the virus, including a convalescent plasma therapy that was achieved with the collaboration of the staff at Baptist Health, colleagues from Foxx’s medical offices, the FDA, and other medical facilities.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 19, 2020) – As of 5 p.m. April 19, Gov. Beshear said there were at least 2,960 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, 273 of which were newly confirmed. Unfortunately, Gov. Beshear also reported four new deaths Sunday, raising the state’s toll to 148 deaths related to the virus.

“We’ve had our highest number of new cases today,” the Governor said. “That doesn’t mean we are not on the right track; we are. This is just how this virus works. We are still in the midst of this fight against a deadly and highly contagious virus.”

Department Cancels Conservation Camps

Decision protects families from COVID-19 spread

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 17, 2020) - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will not offer its summer conservation camps this year due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Rich Storm said. ”However, this is a necessary step we had to take to protect the health and safety of our campers, their families and our staff.”

This decision was made in conjunction with the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet as part of the commonwealth’s ongoing efforts to ensure the health and wellness of the public as Kentucky fights aggressively to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife operates Camp John Currie, Camp Earl Wallace and Camp Robert Webb to provide youth with outdoor education and experiences.
