Garrard County Announces 2024 Waste Tire Collection Event

Garrard County has scheduled its annual Waste Tire Collection event, set to take place at the State Highway Garage in Lancaster. This initiative, aimed at helping residents dispose of unwanted tires responsibly, will run from Thursday, September 26 to Saturday, September 28, 2024.

The collection times are as follows:

• Thursday, September 26: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

• Friday, September 27: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

• Saturday, September 28: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Residents are encouraged to bring their waste tires to the collection site at 782 Industry Road, Lancaster, KY. Accepted items include truck and passenger tires, farm implement tires, and tires from bicycles, motorcycles, go-carts, and ATVs. Tires can be delivered either on or off the rim.

However, there are restrictions on certain types of tires. The following will not be accepted:

• Foam-filled tires

• Calcium-filled tires

• Off-road construction tires

• Tires with a bead greater than 1¾ inches

It is important to note that tires from retailers, recyclers, or salvage yards will not be accepted.

The event is sponsored by the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, reflecting a concerted effort to prevent environmental pollution and promote sustainable disposal practices. This collection initiative helps to ensure that discarded tires do not end up in local creeks or on the roadside, contributing to a cleaner and safer environment for the community.
