Angel Tree Event to Brighten Holidays for Garrard County Children in Need
The spirit of giving will soon sweep through Garrard County as CASA of Lexington launches its annual Angel Tree event, aimed at bringing joy to local children in the family court system. The event, set to take place on November 6, at 9 AM, invites community members to take part in an initiative that will make the holidays brighter for some of the county’s most vulnerable children.
Hosted at the First Southern National Bank, located at 27 Public Square in Lancaster, the Angel Tree event provides an opportunity for individuals and families to make a difference by selecting a child’s wish list from the tree. The lists include holiday gift requests from children who have experienced abuse or neglect, many of whom face the prospect of a difficult holiday season without the support of their families.
The Angel Tree initiative offers a simple but impactful way for community members to step in and help. By selecting a wish list, donors can shop for the gifts a child has specifically requested, ensuring that these children experience the joy of the holiday season, which they might otherwise miss. The gifts will be collected and distributed to the children, brightening their holiday and offering a reminder that their community cares.
In addition to the meaningful act of giving, attendees will be treated to free refreshments as they gather to support this important cause. Participants are also encouraged to wear festive clothing to help celebrate the season and spread the holiday cheer.
“Every year, our Angel Tree program offers a way for people to directly impact a child’s life, reminding them that they are loved and remembered, even in difficult times,” said a representative from CASA of Lexington. “It’s more than just a gift—it’s a message of hope for these children who are navigating challenging circumstances.”
CASA of Lexington (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a non-profit organization that works to advocate for abused and neglected children in the family court system. Volunteers with CASA act as the eyes and ears of the court, ensuring that the best interests of the children they represent are recognized and protected. The Angel Tree program is just one of the many ways that CASA supports children, providing an opportunity for the community to come together in a spirit of generosity.
For those interested in participating, the event begins promptly at 9 AM on November 6, and community members are encouraged to arrive early to choose a wish list from the tree. The event promises to be a heartwarming start to the holiday season, offering a reminder of the power of giving and the difference it can make in a child’s life.
