Important Voter Info For Garrard’s June Primary

Only One In-Person Polling Place Will Be Available For All Garrard Precincts On Election Day

This information card shows how to get a ballot to vote by mail in the June Primary.

Lancaster, KY (May 14, 2020) — On May 5, 2020 the Garrard County Board of Election met to discuss the upcoming 2020 Primary Election. Based on the Executive Order set forth from Governor Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams, the board came to several decisions about how the June 23, 2020 Primary Election will be conducted in Garrard County.

For the June Primary, all voters are eligible to vote by Absentee Ballot, according to Garrard County Clerk Kevin Montgomery.   

“Voting by mail is highly recommended to reduce the amount of exposure to voters, poll workers and administrators,” Montgomery said.



To vote by Absentee 

Ballot (mail-in):

1. Complete a request form at GoVoteKY.com by June 15. (Your absentee ballot will be mailed to you to complete at home. Put your ballot in the provided pre-paid return envelope. Don’t forget to sign both the inner and outer envelopes.)

OR 

2. Contact the Garrard County Clerk at 859-792-3071/859-792-3072 to request a ballot. If you call by phone you will have to complete an application first before receiving your ballot.


To vote in person:

1. Voters can vote Absentee in the Garrard County Clerk’s Office by APPOINTMENT ONLY June 8, 2020 through June 22, 2020 during County Clerk’s business hours. Contact the Garrard County Clerk at 859-792-3071 or 859-792-3072 to make an appointment.   

OR

2. On Election Day (June 23, 2020) one polling place will be held at the Garrard County Middle School Gymnasium. This centralized location will be the ONLY POLLING PLACE on Election Day.


“Please take note that the COVID-19 virus has created a state of emergency in the Commonwealth and poses a risk to the health and well-being of voters,” a statement released by the Garrard County Board of Election said. “All CDC guidelines on social distancing will be enforced while early voting at the Garrard County Clerk’s Office and on Election Day.” 

The board asks that those who do choose to vote absentee by appointment only or on Election Day be aware of social distancing and take precautions (masks and gloves). 

“These are unseen times in America and for our small community,” the release said. “We ask that all Garrard County voters work with us to conduct a safe election. Regardless of how you choose to vote the Garrard County Board of elections has the responsibility to perform our duties and to conduct an honest and fair election.” 

The Garrard County Board of Elections is composed of Garrard County Clerk Kevin Montgomery (Chairman), Cindy Wade (Democrat member), Holton Howard (Republican member) and Sheriff’s Deputy Leanna Miller.
